A BBC drama written by Donna Franceschild, Donovan Quick is a Don Quixote for his time. A quiet, well spoken lodger (Colin Firth) takes a spare room at a Glaswegian dysfunctional family home. The mother drinks, her son steals and the grandmother walks about half-naked. Her learning disabled brother mainly plays with his train set. However, when Windmill Transport axes the only real train that allows him to get to the Day Centre, Donovan Quick passionately takes to the cause and starts his own one-bus company, tilting at windmills. As the two companies battle it out, Donovan ill-advisably gets more involved with the complex family relationships.
