A small town priest Giuseppe Albinizi (Robbie Coltrane) is elected the new Pontiff by accident. Albinizi is a reluctant spiritual leader who prefers cars, women, and rock & roll to church business, but when he discovers the level of corruption in the Vatican hierarchy he resolves to clean it up. Peter Richardson's comedy is gloriously over the top.

 

After complaints from Catholic groups in the U.S., the distributors changed the title to The Pope Must Diet.
