Close to the Edit

Broadcast on BBC Radio 2, Close to the Edit is a three-part series on Anne's extraordinary career as a composer, a musician and an arranger.

From her early years as a founding member of Art of Noise and her collaborations with Trevor Horn (Lexicon of Love, Buffalo Gals and Frankie goes to Hollywood), the series culminated with a look at her much-loved film and television soundtracks (including The Full Monty and Jeeves & Wooster), and her appointment as the first composer-in-residence with the BBC Concert Orchestra. It was presented by Stuart Maconie with contributions from Tom Jones, Martin Fry, Stephen Fry, Neil Jordan, Will Young, Alison Moyet, Neil Tennant, Trevor Horn, Barry Wordsworth, Chris Thomas and Lucy O'Brian.

Quotes from the series:

"Anne is the architect of post-rave chillout music" Lucy O'Brian

"She has an uncanny all round musical ability as a melodist and an arranger using the timbre and feel of her music to create the right sound picture" Stephen Fry

"We call her the housewife superstar" Will Young

"She is always imaginative ...the best!" Trevor Horn

"Beauty and harmonic richness from the English pastoral and church tradition with a little flavour of jazz – all mixed together - that is Anne Dudley" Neil Tennant
